Kelly Kumm has been practicing law in Pocatello since 1984, with an emphasis on criminal defense. Early in his career, his focus was on civil litigation, including family law, commercial law, and bankruptcy law. Kumm started his own law firm in 1996. Shortly thereafter, his practice began to emphasize criminal defense while continuing his civil practice to a lesser extent.

Kumm’s experience in criminal defense is extensive and diverse.  He primarily represents defendants charged with serious felonies.  He has been involved, and obtained acquittals, in many lengthy and complex trials, ranging from white collar crime to drug conspiracies.  In 2009-2010, Kumm served as president of the Idaho Assocation of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

As a civil lawyer, Kumm has represented institutional as well as individual clients.  He has published articles on family law issues from division of community property to the treatment of custody evaluations.  From 2004 to 2010, Kumm served on the Board of Disability Rights of Idaho, the designated protection and advocacy agency for the state of Idaho.  He was president of the organization from 2006 to 2008.  Along with a local judge, Kumm founded the local CASA program, a volunteer service agency dedicated to representing the interests of abused children in court proceedings.  He continues to represent many clients in commercial disputes and family law matters.

Kumm also has extensive experience as an administrative hearing officer for the state of Idaho and the Idaho State Bar Association.  He has conducted hearings for the state Department of Education, Board of Medicine, Personnel Commission and the Department of Transportation. He has been involved as a panel member and panel chairman of numerous fee arbitration hearings conducted by the state bar association.

In June 2013, Kumm was awarded the Walter H. Bithell Professionalism Award for outstanding professionalism in the practice of law by the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association. Also, in 2013, Kumm was awarded the Legal Advocacy Award by the NAACP for services provided to the Pocatello branch of the NAACP.

Kumm is admitted to practice in all state courts in Idaho, federal courts in the District of Idaho, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  He has argued appeals in front of the Idaho Court of Appeals, the Idaho Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Reichert began his career in Wenatchee, Washington, with his practice focusing on criminal defense, with an emphasis on Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Personal Injury and Worker’s Compensation.  During his time in Washington, Reichert also served as President of the Chelan-Douglas County Young Lawyers Division.

In March of 2011, Reichert joined the firm of Kumm Law Offices, PLLC. In the fall of 2012, Reichert joined Kelly Kumm as a partner and the firm became known as KUMM & REICHERT, PLLC.  Reichert continues to focus his practice on criminal defense (federal, felony and misdemeanor), personal injury, and family law, including divorce, custody, child support and adoption as well as a variety of other civil areas.

In 2014 Reichert was the recipient of CASA’s Attorney of the Year Award. The award is in recognition of his dedication and exemplary pro bono services on behalf of abused and neglected children in the 6th Judicial District CASA Program. Reichert also serves as a Board Member for the Idaho Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Outside the practice of law, Reichert loves to spend time with his two (2) children; Reichert also loves to golf, travel, and spend time with family and friends. Reichert is a loyal supporter of Gonzaga athletics (Go ZAGS!) and enjoys watching a variety of sports.

Stratton is an associate attorney at KUMM & REICHERT, PLLC and has been with the firm since March of 2014. Stratton’s practice focuses primarily on criminal defense, family law, and personal injury, as well as a variety of other civil areas.

Stratton was raised in American Falls by the Honorable Paul S. Laggis and Paula Laggis and graduated from American Falls High School in 2007. Stratton went on to attend Idaho State University for one year before moving to Moscow where he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Idaho in 2010. Stratton followed in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps to become a third generation attorney after graduating from the University Of Idaho College Of Law in December of 2013.

Stratton lives in Pocatello with his wife, Ellen, who is the daughter of Ritchey and Joanne Toevs from Aberdeen, and their baby son. In their free time, Ellen and Stratton may be found deep in the mountains chasing deer and elk, hidden in a cornfield awaiting the arrival of ducks and geese, or on one of Idaho’s infamous rivers fly fishing or testing their patience on salmon and steelhead.

Stratton is also the proud recipient of CASA’s Attorney of the Year award for 2014 and the Denise O’Donnell-Day Pro Bono Award for 2015 which were awarded in recognition of his active services and advocacy within the community.
